So you have picked up a fine. No drama. Here is exactly how paying works, how you tell everyone you have settled up, and why Fine Club never actually touches your money.
This is the big one, so we will say it up front. Fine Club is a ledger and a social layer, not a payment service. It keeps track of who owes what and how the pot is growing, but it never takes, holds, or pays out a single penny. How you actually hand over the money (bank transfer, a tenner in the changing room, a round at the bar) is entirely between you and your club.
Open one of your unpaid fines and you will see everything you need to settle it:
Tapping "I've paid" does not mark the fine as settled on its own. Think of it as raising your hand to say "that one is sorted". It sends your admin a heads up so they know to check their end and confirm it. Nothing to stress about, it is just how the two sides stay in sync when the money moves outside the app.
When you flag a fine, your admin gets a notification. Once they have seen the money arrive, they confirm the payment, and that is the moment the fine officially reads as paid. Admins have two easy ways to find payments waiting on them:
If you are the admin, a good rhythm is to clear these whenever a notification lands, so nobody is left wondering whether their payment went through.
Some fines never need a payment at all, because they get wiped down to zero. When that happens they settle automatically. No "I've paid", no waiting on approval, no fuss. This covers:
In all of these the amount hits zero and the fine reads as done the instant it happens. Lucky you.
Each club sets a days to pay window, which is the friendly little grace period you have to settle a fine. Pay inside it and all is well. Once that window passes, the fine starts reading as overdue, which is your nudge (and possibly your club's gentle ribbing) to get it sorted. Your admin sets how many days that window is.
