Spin the wheel

Type your names in, spin the wheel, and let it decide. Free, no sign up, and it works on your phone. Edit the entries as much as you like, then share the exact wheel with the group chat.

Click to spin
10 entries · or press ctrl+enter

Type, paste or delete to change the wheel. It redraws as you go, and your list is kept on this device only. Up to 200 entries.

How to use the wheel

  • Type or paste your list into the entries box, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
  • Delete a line to drop someone off, or add a line to put them on.
  • Hit Spin the wheel, click the wheel itself, or press ctrl and enter.
  • The winner pops up and lands in the Results tab so you keep a record of every spin.
  • Tick Remove the winner after each spin to work through a whole list without repeats.

What teams actually use it for

It started as a way to settle the daft arguments. Who takes the last penalty, who is fetching the balls in, who has to ring round about subs again. A wheel ends the debate in four seconds and nobody can accuse anyone of stitching them up.

The ones we see most often are drawing a letter for a Bring an item challenge, choosing who buys the first round, handing out forfeits, picking the captains for a training game, and deciding which poor soul gets a job nobody volunteered for.

Is it actually random?

Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, and the wheel is then animated to land on it. Every entry has exactly the same chance, every spin, and the result does not depend on where the wheel stopped last time.

The one thing worth knowing: an entry that appears twice in your list gets two wedges, so it is twice as likely to come up. That is handy if you want to weight the wheel on purpose, and worth checking if you did not.

Free, private, and no account

The whole thing runs in your browser. Your list is never sent anywhere, it is saved on your own device so it is still there next time, and there is nothing to sign up for.

Share this wheel copies a link with your entries baked into it. Anyone who opens it gets your exact wheel, ready to spin, without needing an account either.

FAQ

Questions about the wheel

Is the wheel free?

Completely. No account, no trial, no limit on how many times you spin it, and no watermark on anything you share.

How many entries can I add?

Up to 200. Past roughly 40 the labels get small, so for a very long list it is often easier to spin in rounds and use Remove the winner after each spin.

Can I save my wheel and come back to it?

It saves itself. Your entries are stored on the device you are using, so the same list is waiting next time you open the page. Hit Reset to go back to the starting list.

Can I share my wheel with the team?

Yes. Press Share this wheel and it copies a link with your entries inside it. Paste that into the group chat and everyone gets the same wheel.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, on any modern phone or tablet browser. There is a fullscreen button too, which is the one to use if you are putting it on a TV or a laptop in the changing room.

What is Fine Club?

A free app for running your team's fines: the rulebook, the fines, the shared kitty and the leaderboard, plus the same wheel built in so a fined player can gamble the fine instead of paying it.

Your squad deserves a proper rulebook

The wheel is the fun bit. Fine Club is the rest of it: the fines, the kitty, the leaderboard and the end of season do it all pays for. Free, on iOS and Android.
