The rulebook and fines

Your rulebook is the list of fines your club can hand out. Here is how it works, and how admins turn a rule into a fine on a player.

What the rulebook is

The rulebook is a list of fine templates. Each one is just three things: an emoji, a name, and a price. Think "late to training", "own goal celebration", or "phone out at the team dinner". The rulebook is shared across everything, so the same set of rules applies to every pot and goal your club is saving toward.

Starter packs get you going

You do not have to write a rulebook from a blank page. Pick a starter pack and we seed a ready-made set of fines for you.

  • Football
  • Rugby
  • Cricket
  • Social (for groups that are not a sports team)

Once a pack is in, you can rename rules, change prices, add your own, or drop the ones that do not fit.

Editing a rule never rewrites history

This is the important bit. When a fine is issued, it takes a snapshot of the rule's name, emoji, and price at that moment. So if the "late to training" fine was £2 last month and you bump it to £5 today, last month's fines still read £2. Nobody's history gets quietly rewritten.

Retiring a rule

Changed your mind about a rule? You can deactivate it. That hides it so it can no longer be handed out, but every fine already issued from it stays exactly as it was. Nothing vanishes from the pot or the fine table.

Issuing a fine

Only an admin can hand out a fine. Pick the player, pick the rule, and it lands on their tally. A few things make this quicker and clearer:

  • Bulk issue: caught the whole back four turning up late? Fine several players at once in a single go.
  • Add a note: attach an optional line of context, like which match it was for, so everyone remembers what happened.
  • Choose the pot: pick which pot or goal the fine feeds. If you do not choose, it goes to the current goal.

That is the whole loop: a tidy rulebook, honest history, and a couple of taps to turn a bit of banter into money toward the end of season do.
